Community - Advocacy
Syracuse Community Health Center has opportunities for concerned citizens to lobby on its behalf at the state and federal levels. Policy priorities are primarily focused on three essential areas:
- Ensuring access in medically underserved areas
- Investing in our primary health care infrastructure
- Upholding community health centers as an outstanding model for how to provide high quality, cost effective, community-focused health care
The Community Health Centers Association of New York State (CHCANYS) www.chcanys.org and the National Association for Community Health Centers (NACHC) www.nachc.org are the central lobbying agencies directing grass roots activity for meeting and communicating with policy makers about community health care. In addition, these agencies assist advocates in helping to educate the community, highlight health centers in the media and register people to vote, all essential elements of effective advocacy. Both CHCANYS and NACHC are committed to giving health center advocates the tools needed to make their voice heard.
