Volunteer Advocate Program
Volunteer Advocate Program
Join us as a SCHC Volunteer Advocate! By volunteering at the Syracuse Community Health Center, you will join a rich, growing history of an organization that has made a commitment to enriching the quality of health care to the Central New York Community. You will have a fulfilling opportunity to inspire our patients through your commitment of time, talent and dedication.
Volunteers are matched to a service opportunity based on interests, skills, talents and the needs of SCHC. As an SCHC Advocate you will gain the gratification of knowing you can assist our patients, providers and families, and that you are a part of SCHC's Place of Choice for health care.
There are many ways to serve as an Advocate. In patient services, you may interact with patients in our reception and waiting areas, making visits less stressful and more productive. VIP volunteers give tours of the facility and provide guidance to those seeking directions or information. As a facility enhancement volunteer, you may be part of a team that works together to help keep our facility in tip top shape. Other volunteer opportunities may involve supporting the SCHC staff with office and computer skills, or special event planning. With 15 patient care settings, and hours of operation that encompass 7 days a week, including evenings, there is a service opportunity to fit your schedule, and one that you will enjoy!

Ms. Wilma Alex has been a SCHC volunteer for over 5 years and volunteers 24 hours a week. Ms. Alex's volunteer opportunity is to call patients with appointment reminders. She also preps dental equipment for sterilization.
